FireFox And IE?

I'm not asking which is better. I'm just seeing who agrees with my point.

People say IE lacks in features, and that mozilla firefox doesn't, but really those people aren't up to date. Using IE 6 still!

IE has most of the things they say it doesn't!

http://www.xulplanet.com/ndeakin/arts/re...

So from a non developer point of view, IE 7 is just almost good as FireFox.

I actually prefer FireFox, because of about:config.

People always aggro about the most used systems, or most used anythings!

The people who complain about windows are too dumb to know how to use it, none the less linux!(Linux is much more complicated than windows.Only used by 3.3%)

http://www.w3schools.com/browsers/browse...

I think its simple, people need to get their facts straight before they bash MS, IE7, WMP, etc.

What do you think? Agree, disagree?

Don't flame.

I'm on Ubuntu Linux with kde, Firefox, Wine installed, and everything completely set up.

FireFox And IE?microsoft xp

need to agree. Ie is updated and is secured too.Firefox actually loading slow on me.I like Ie because it loads up fast the only prob i get with ie is that it crashes me sometimes but that could also be my system.Thats why i made my own client http://browser.yahworld.com .Firefox is good with linux but same problem with the loading. I still would say Firefox is a bit better. So my rate is from 1 - 10 FIREFOX:8 IE7.xx:7.5 ! - Fact for me is there is no super browser out there. Learn to use it and you will love it . See ya

FireFox And IE?download windows xp internet explorer

Well I see things this way. IE 6 is so old that is it useless. IE 7.0 is so unstable that it is useless. FF runs but has interface issues and doesn't render certain bits of CSS properly. Opera is stable, fast, secure, and renders according to the W3C standards so it works PROPERLY!!!!.

Opera for me works great even on a machine with insufficient memory to run windows properly half the time.
I am a fan of FireFox, it is the only thing I will use. I don't like IE v6 or v. They have done a lot of upgrades to IE v7 but I still think it doesn't compare to FireFox.

Windows is falling apart specially since VISTA came out, they are trying to push people to spending a lot of money on WINDOWS products. So but, of course WINDOWS is going to get trashed.
You know they say you judge a book by its cover. Bashing Linux or Bashing Windows is senseless. Both operating systems have their good points and bad points. I've already converted three computers back to windows xp because of the windows vista downfall and people don't like it.

I use Fire Fox by choice because it is faster and doesn't stall out when loading up web pages. Anything made by Microsoft I don't trust, not to be spying on the user. I only have a windows computer to do things Linux woun't do because of lack of comparable software

Mozilla and IE problem, help ASAP please?

Ok. I use a laptop, and a wireless router that is connected to our desktop and our DSL.

I am connected to the internet, however Mozilla Firefox and IE will not connect to any websites, firefox only comes up blank no matter what site I go to and regardless of its address or an IP address. IE says cannot connect. However, AIM and Limewire and things like that work just fine.

The desktop has the internet and Firefox and IE are working, but not on my laptop.

Even when I plug the Ethernet directly to my laptop, the problem is the same, AIM LImewire works, but Firefox and IE will only come up blank and unable to connect.

How do I figure out what the problem is and how to fix this?

Mozilla and IE problem, help ASAP please?microsoft downloads

It is very possible that one of your other software (limewire is my guess) is hogging up all your internet speed. Try disabling limewire from starting when the computer starts and restart the computer. Try using the internet without turning on limewire.

If this is the problem, you will have to go into limewire settings and limit the speed alloted to it. I do no currently have limewire, but dig around in the settings a bit, and I'm sure you'll find it.

No more IE on OSX?

IE is no longer bundled with OSX. I know that's not really a major problem since OSX users can get Firefox but still some websites require the use of IE. In addition IE for OSX will no longer be offered. What are OSX users going to do?

No more IE on OSX?microsoft net framework

While I agree that no sites should be written to require any specific browser, the fact is that Mac IE will should be available for awhile for whoever really needs it. Archives like evolt.org have provided old versions of Netscape for years, for example. Eventually web developers will realize that all modern Mac users have Safari preinstalled, and that anyone can get Firefox freely. (The bigger problem is the number of developers coding specifically for *Windows* IE - ActiveX etc.)

Use Firefox, Safari, Opera or Camino.
Complain vehemently to any webmaster who doesn't code for non-IE browsers. Any webmaster worth his salt will realize that IE isn't the only show in town anymore, and those who code for IE only should be fired.

That's just my humble opinion. LOL

Ie/ei spelling rule sentence?

Okay, I know the "I before E" poem by heart. But there was a sentence in one of my spelling books that had all the *exceptions* in it, and it started:

I think you were trying to get either this:

or this:

and probably not this:

homogeneity must be nucleic protein-deficient from sauteing

(even though it contains even more of the exceptions!!)

However, you might find this useful as it is in rhyme form and thus a little easier to remember:

“I” before “E” except after “C”

Or when sounded like “A”, as in “neighbor” and “weigh”

Except “seize” and “seizure”, and also “leisure”,

“Weird”, “height” and “neither”, “forfeit” and “either”.

Why does ie close out of random?

I had the original IE, that every xp comes with first. and every time i hit "view profile" in myspace or went to a profile in myspace or anything of that sort, it would close without no "dont send" or "send error report" signal.

in firefox, it works great and doesn't exit.

I have javascript and flash installed correctly, because when it doesnt freeze I can hear music or whatever.

Now, I downloaded IE 7, and it still does that.

I scanned my computer with Ad-Aware and it still didnt work.

So then I deleted Ad-Aware and got Spybot, and scanned it.

After all this, my ie will still close, without letting me know.

Any tips or anyone know how to fix this?

Why does ie close out of random?microsoft zune

It could be a variety of reasons such as incompatible Add-ons, incompatible toolbars, lack of system resources (RAM), malware, Java problems, etc. Hard to say without knowing the error details.

First run your resident security products such as antivirus and antispyware applications. If everything comes up clean, try uninstalling your toolbars such as Google or Yahoo through Control Panel, Add/Remove Programs. If the issues continue, go to Tools, Manage Add-ons and disable each one by itself to see if one of them is the culprit. If you are still having troubles, update your Java by following these steps.

Assuming that you are in the Administrator account, go to Control Panel, Add/Remove Programs and uninstall everything that says J2SE, Java and Java Runtime. Reboot (some computers require a reboot to complete the uninstall process). Then go to the site below and download the most recent version of Java.

Afterwards, in IE, go to Tools, Internet Options, Advanced tab and scroll down to the Java section and tickmark the "Use 1.6.2 (version changes with each update) for applet". Click Apply, Click OK and reboot (a reboot is required for some computers for the settings to stick).

http://www.java.com/en/download/index.js...

Finally if everything above has been ruled out, you probably have a system resources problem. You can see if your computer can handle more RAM by going to Crucial.com and running a scan.

http://www.crucial.com/index.asp

It's important to note that everything takes RAM. Not only security products (such as active anti-spyware, anti-virus and firewall) eat up memory but your operating system, active browser windows, running applications (such as Word, Gaming, Messenger, Photoshop, etc) and malware

Firefox working OK? Not giving you problems? Well, stick with Firefox, i have and have never looked back. Deleted Internet Explorer even ( not explorer.exe, but iexplore.exe ) you can still just type a web address in MyComputer address bar if you want. Try Opera as well as a back up to FF, leave IE for the place it has earned, that is last. Netscape has been officially retired, bet ya IE is next to go to the browser graveyard.

This is most likely caused by a browser "add-on" These are things that you add to your browser like toolbars.

Here is what I did to fix the problem:

Click on "tools" and then click on "manage add-ons" then select "enable or disable add-ons"

On the next screen disable ALL of your add-ons then close IE down completely. Reopen IE and then open a few websites. then try closing one. If your browser stays open then go back to your add-ons and enable them one at a time.

Note that each time you enable an add-on you will have to close your browser completely for the change to take affect.

Depending on how many add-ons you have this could take a little time but once you find the one that is causing the problem you can keep it disabled and then your browser should work fine.
Does this happen with any other applications? If so, I would not rule out the possibility that this is hardware related instead of software -- sounds like you could have a corrupted stick of RAM in your computer.

Do as the previous poster suggested and get the upgrade to IE7 -- it should replace any corrupted files and fix the issue. If it doesn't, look into your hardware.

IE problem - advertisement pop up?

Try this. Click start, in search box type in msconfig. If that search box doesn't come up click on run and type in msconfig. You will end up at a system configuration box. Click on the start up tab and look for the pop ups there. If not found there, click the services tab and look there. You need to know every thing in the pop up so you will recognize what you are looking for. If you find, un check the box or boxes. Write down all you un check so if you make an error you can go back and reinstate. There may be a hundred items in services tab so start at the bottom of scroll down box.

IE no longer works on my computer for some reason. I can only use FireFox and I'm not too crazy

Two days ago IE just stopped working. This is what appears when I open IE window:

Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage

Most likely causes:

You are not connected to the Internet.

The website is encountering problems.

There might be a typing error in the address.

What you can try:

Check your Internet connection. Try visiting another website to make sure you are connected.

Retype the address.

Go back to the previous page.

More information

This problem can be caused by a variety of issues, including:

Internet connectivity has been lost.

The website is temporarily unavailable.

The Domain Name Server (DNS) is not reachable.

The Domain Name Server (DNS) does not have a listing for the website's domain.

If this is an HTTPS (secure) address, click tools, click Internet Options, click Advanced, and check to be sure the SSL and TLS protocols are enabled under the security section.

I don't care for Firefox. Any suggestions?

IE no longer works on my computer for some reason. I can only use FireFox and I'm not too crazy about it.?microsoft templates

You might try to give yourself a chance with Firefox. I actually use it because it's safer than IE (less prone to hacker attacks, viruses, etc.) and more flexible (it's got add-ons that'll enhance your web experience.)

However, if you must use IE, then you can check the connections tab in the Internet Options and make sure that you haven't accidentally turned on/off a proxy server that you may need (if you're at work, or behind a firewall.)

You might also update your virus definitions to make sure that your IE options haven't been compromised by a virus (again, Firefox is better in the case of viruses.)

Barring that, if the problem just began, you could do a system restore if you're using XP or Vista. That could restore your options to the correct settings.

Best wishes!

well you'll love it if you get the myspace toolbar..
Un-install IE and re-install it. It's gotten corrupted
That happens quite often with IE. There's really no reason for it %26amp; I don't know if anything can be done about it.

I know you said you didn't like Firefox, but if you just gave it a chance, I'm sure you prefer it over IE. You don't get thrown out of Firefox. It's much better.

Give it a chance!
Try to check your firewall (if you're using one) to see if somehow Internet Explorer has been denied access to the web.
I work in IT. 90% of the time, when Firefox works on a computer that is active on the net, and IE does not, it's because spyware has infected IE. The greatest thing about Firefox is that (at least compared to IE) it is practically bulletproof in getting fouled up by viral sites.

So in short, you probably have a virus or spyware or something. Using firefox/google, download these programs.

- hijackthis

- spybot

- ad-aware (www.lavasoftusa.com)

even before you install those programs go to norton's security scanner (or trend micro's house call) - and run a full system scan. If you get several positive results, you might need something stronger than those programs. But all computers should have those - especially hijackthis.

With hijackthis, you can get a snapshot of most of the areas that IE lets bugs into your machine, and then show them to knowledgable folks in a forum. Or take specific lines from your hijackthis log (or results), and then google them, to find out more about what is going on.

Anyway, that's if you want a clean machine. Then again, even if you get it fixed up, and go to the same kind of sites with IE, you'll probably get the same problems. It's probably better for you to learn to customize firefox so that whatever it is you like better about IE, you can just do it to firefox.

Firefox can do anything IE can do. It can also stop doing whatever it does that makes you dislike it. It's just a matter of add-ons.
Even I cannot do without IE. No compromise with anything else.

Just try to install IE 7, the latest version. I was having such probs, and now it is solved.

Enjoy IE!

Vera.

Try to search for files and folders related to this program and delete them as you go. Do the same in the registry too.

Explorer follows very few web standards. They've been getting better but sadly not good enough. What is really sad is that most programmers program with IE in mind since more users use it. Thus people who have browser that obey the standards get left in the dark. The reason that IE isn't seeing your site is because you did something right, as odd as it may sound. I can't answer your question without knowing what client-side language you are using as PHP is a server-side language and unless you are doing browser redirects shouldn't effect your page too much. It is possible you have a syntax error. Are you using CSS for your design by any chance? Javascripts?

Offhand I'd say you're mom has different IE settings than are on your profile. Different IE settings (perhaps pop-up blocking, java settings) may be the root of this problem.

IE doesn't draw last pixel CSS?

I am having an issue with IE. I have seen a fix for this before but I can't find it now. The elements display just fine in other browser but IE fails to draw the last pixel causeing the overflow:auto to draw a scrollbar. To fix this I add I pixel to the Height property but this leaves a line under the element in other browsers.

i just read a book called "CSS Hacks and Filteres" making Stle Sheets work. I don't don't remember that hack either but I know I saw it in this book. The book was written by the people at http://www.sitepoit.com/ join their forim they can tell you how to do that.

IE / Firefox problem?

The problem here is something is wrong with IE AND Firefox.

Whenever I try to view any page, the area where the page is supposed to appear is blank. I've tried refreshing and refreshing, but all they display is just blank nothingness. Rarely does the page appear, and even then it continues "loading" even after the page appears to be fully loaded. After awhile it refreshes and I am back to square one, with the blank screen. I've used IE for awhile then switched to Firefox, for about 6 months now, and I'm quite worried.

What's wrong? It was fine before. Before this happened, there was an update from Norton 2006 (preinstalled on my computer by Compaq, old yes I KNOW). I needed to restart the computer for the changes to take effect, and since then this problem has been occuring. I've tried restarting again and again, but to no avail.

Nothing is wrong with the internet connection. I'm using my dad's comp with the same connection, and it's fine.

You could try using your system restore facility to restore your PC.

If that still don't work you could Uninstall Norton and install another good free version which will be much lighter on your PC than Norton and be just as secure.

How can I get IE 7 off my computer?

"I installed IE 7 on my computer. I am not satisfied with it's proformance. It will not allow me to install any other browser. It also will not allow me to uninstall it in any way. I have tried add/delete programs and unistall from the programs menu. It will not let me reset my "system restore" to before it was installed. It keeps trying to shut down my computer. It's almost like it knows that I am trying to get rid of it. It's kind of spooky, like microsoft has designed it to block any effort to get rid of it. It pops up a box that says that Windows Explorer has encountered a problem and needs to close. I never had any problems with IE 6. How can I get IE 7 off my computer?"

How can I get IE 7 off my computer?nintendo ds browser internet explorer

you have to get a seperate uninstalling software for getting IE or Messenger off the PC. it is available , but not for free.
It would be nice if you could get it off, but MS has screwed us over again. Try to install Firefox.
reinstall it with IE 6
from what i know about i7 is much better than i6, maybe it is not compatible with your systems, what you should do is back up your files first and try to reformat your hard disk maybe that what i will suggest to you as of the moment.
Start %26gt; Control Panel %26gt; Add/Remove Programs.

Uninstall IE 7 from the list. If it does not show up there, then click 'Show Updates' and then uninstall it. IE will be automatically be downgraded to version 6.
Uninstalling Internet Explorer 7 RC1

To uninstall Internet Explorer 7 and restore Internet Explorer 6 when using Windows XP or Windows Server 2003

Click Start, and then click Control Panel.

Click Add or Remove Programs.

Scroll down to Windows Internet Explorer 7, click it, and then click Change/Remove.

If you cannot find Internet Explorer 7 in Add or Remove Programs, click Start, click Run, type %windir%\ie7\spuninst\spuninst.exe, and then press ENTER.

Note: %windir% is the location of your Windows directory, which can usually be found at C:\Windows. To do this, you need to have "view hidden folders" enabled.

Uninstalling Internet Explorer 7 Beta 3, Beta 2, Beta 2 Preview, or Beta 1

To uninstall Internet Explorer 7 Beta 3, Beta 2, Beta 2 Preview, or Beta 1 and restore Internet Explorer 6 when using Windows XP or Windows Server 2003:

Click Start, and then click Control Panel.

Click Add or Remove Programs.

Scroll down to "Internet Explorer 7 Beta 3", "Internet Explorer 7 Beta 2", or "Internet Explorer 7 Beta 2 Preview", click it, and then click Change/Remove.

If you cannot find any version of Internet Explorer 7 in the previous step, select the Show Updates check box at the top of the Add or Remove Programs dialog box, scroll down to Windows XP - Software Updates, select "Internet Explorer 7 Beta 2 Preview" or "Internet Explorer 7 Beta 1", and then click Change/Remove.

If you cannot find an Internet Explorer 7 entry using Add or Remove Programs, try running these commands. Each is for a different release of Internet Explorer 7, so only one will succeed. To run any of these commands, you need to have the View hidden folders option enabled. In the commands below, %windir% is the location of your Windows directory, which can usually be found at C:\Windows. To run these commands, click Start, click Run, and then type one of the following:

%windir%\ ie7beta3\ spuninst\ spuninst.exe.

%windir%\ $NtUninstallie7beta1$\ spuninst\ spuninst.exe.

%windir%\ $NtUninstallie7bet2p$ \spuninst\ spuninst.exe.

%windir%\ $NtUninstallie7b2pmx$ \spuninst \spuninst.exe.

%windir%\ $NtUninstallie7beta2$ \spuninst\spuninst.exe.
If you still can't get rid of the problem what I would do is if you have Windows XP press F10 when you restart your computer and keep pressing it untill you get a screen and somewhere on there, there should be an option that says Restore your computer to an earlier date. Now this works. The computer will choose dates it thinks are important or you can set your own but once you set the date there is no turning back.
I had a similar issue with the "..has encountered a problem and needs to close" pop up. This doesn't totally uninstall IE, more of a disable but what I did was:

Start - control panel - add remove programs

On the left hand side of the program list you will see add/remove windows components. Un-check Internet Explorer and click on next. I then installed Firefox.

IE hasn't bothered me since :P
Hi,

From the control panel I was able to uninstall it. Select to show updates. Find and uninstall IE7.

The folder on your hardrive usually drive C will still show the folder on IE though.

IE 7.0 Links not working?

I have been using IE 7.0 on my Vista machine for a few months with no problems.

Now - some links and/or buttons are not working or are now missing. For instance, in yahoo group, the next/previous buttons in the message area are gone as well as the message title name.

Also, in a lot of places the buttons or links are there and either don't work or take me to a blank page. In my bank website they list my different accounts and then I click and it takes me to a page with the details. Now the the links do not work.

Any help? Do I have a virus or did I just mess something up in IE?

Why does IE 7 deny access to frames on a web page and how can I correct it?

I am using Roadrunner webmail at www.webmail.carolina.rr.com. After logging in I access the Options page which has a left and a right frame. The left frame has several "buttons" that have various functions.

When I logon using IE 6 or Firefox I am able to see and use the buttons in that left frame. If I logon using IE 7 I cannot see the left frame and there is an "Error on page" displayed in the left hand corner of the window. When I click in the error it says access is denied to the left frame URL.

I called MS IE 7 support and they were unable to provide an answer...said it must be a problem with Outlook (?????). I've searched the MS IE 7 pages and blogs with no luck. Does anyone know what I can do/change/download to view these frames in IE 7 or do you know what in Outlook may be causing the problem? Like I said, I can view the frames using IE 6 and Firefox, just not with IE 7, using the same computer so it would seem that it is an IE 7 issue.

Thanks!

Update your Computer using Windows Update.

Also you may try changing the security level while on the site, maybe it is too high and it is not letting the "left pane/frame" load appropriately.

Please read the question and answer appropriately. Do not just tell him to "Use Firefox". Maybe there is a reason he doesn't want to use Firefox, as he said it works there but he wants to know why it doesn't work on IE.

I am actually a support tech for roadrunner. and heres the story. There are alot of things that IE 7 just doesn't work with. One is the Road Runner Medic program. It won't even load with IE 7. The problem seems to be that that program just doesn't have the correct coding for alot of programs to be able to work. The good thing is.. if you have installed IE 7 you can uninstall it and your computer will default back to IE6 on startup. There is really nothing that you can do to change what is happening with that browser. These are things that Microsoft has to work out. Wish I could tell you a solution but there isnt one.
IE 7 has a patch that corrects a problem with getting to sites...I have had that problem ever since upgrading to the 7..would click on a site and it would pop up saying check connection or could not connect to website....finally went to the IE Support and found out they have a version IE 6 patch that goes into the version 7 for you .. will solve this...it works I have done that and no problems since......good luck

IE will not open when using YIM?

I had this problem with YIM 7 so I just upgraded to 8 to see if it would fix the problem. When I click on mail from the messenger window, it prompts me whther I want to be logged in automatically or not. I click yes, but IE (my default browser) does not open and I get no e-mail page. Also, when I click to play launchcast, I do not get any sound, or any errors. I've tried turning off my firewall with the same results. It is as if the appropriate registry values are not set for messenger to launch IE. Has anyone fixed this type of problem?

IE will not open when using YIM?ds browser

Uninstall Yahoo Instant Messenger, upgrade your browser to IE 7 (or better, Mozilla) and reinstall the latest version.

If that doesn't work, you may have to go to run--%26gt;msconfig to get to the registry to take a look. It's a messy thing though, you should back up the reg before working on it.

How do I check if internet explorer IE is open or not?

Hi everyone,

I have an advertising board at a remote location running a web page (in IE) that displays advertisements. I already have a way of checking to see if the web server is running or not on the remote machine. However, I would also like to remotely check to see if IE is running or not. Maybe some kind of javascript that checks the remote computer for a file when IE is open (and if IE is not open the file does not exist). And if the file exists, than that would mean the IE is open, and it would display something for me saying so. I ope that I have explained myself properly. Basically I want to be able to log into my administration web site and check to see if IE is open or not (on the remote computer) from anywhere in the world. Does anyone have any ideas?

Thanks

You can set up logmein on your server and view its screen remotely to check this. I feel a disaster brewing, though. This means you are running the server in a public place? This is very dangerous.

IE issues: dotted lines not showing up properly?

I'm creating a site using Perl, Mason Site Builder. My layout has a lot of dotted lines. While the dotted lines work well and are seen perfectly in Firefox as they are, in IE they completely suck. In IE, the lines sometimes are blurry, invisible, and in some parts they stick together like lines. I've checked my codes. I've checked everything. Everything is perfect on my end, it must be a browser issue (damn billy gates!) Anyone can help me? PLEASE?

Hello, This is a bug in IE. One of the many irritating things about CSS support in Internet Explorer is that it incorrectly shows dashed borders instead of dotted borders.

IE7 Currently addresses this issue, but prior browsers, you would need to do some workaround.

To revert back to IE-6, use your add / remove programs in control panel, just be sure that "Show Updates" is checked up at the top.

How to revert to IE 6 after IE 7 has been loaded?windows xp themes internet explorer

Open up control panel and in there select add/remove programs. In there toward the top right you'll see a check box that says show updates. make sure thats checked. then scroll down the list to internet explorer 7. select uninstall. it'll go back to 6 and restart your pc and you should be good.
delteing ie7 will take you strigh back to ie6 (start%26gt;mycopmuter%26gt;controll pannel%26gt;add promove PROGRAMS%26gt;delte ie7)
there's two ways I know how:

1. delete IE 7 from the control panel. then search on yahoo! or google, or anywhere, to redownload IE 6. it should replace IE7

2. I heard that if you delete IE 7 your computer should (somehow) revert back to IE 6.

I'm not sure if #2 is true, but try one of these two.
just change your bank!
You need to uninstall IE7, and it will revert back to IE6. Do this: Click on Start, Settings, Control Panel, Add/Remove Programs, and the Show updates box at the top. This will show you the latest version of everything installed on your computer. Scroll down until you find Internet Explorer 7. Remove it, and when it finishes, close Control Panel and restart your computer. It will then be back to IE6, and your banking problem should be solved.
Hi there,

If you want to get Internet Explorer 6 you will need to go to the microsoft website and in the search box type 'internet explorer 6'.

The page should come up and you will be able to download from there. If that doesn't work just keep looking through the download section till you find it, good luck!

There site is at microsoft.com
You can use this program to install previous versions of IE alongside IE7 without affecting your IE7 installation. It's free. http://tredosoft.com/IE7_standalone
You could try using System Restore to revert back to a restore point made before IE7 had been installed. I've done this today, not just because of IE7, I'm now back on IE6, but to restore a rather confused C drive ( I can't resist in messing about!). Always set a restore point before making changes or downloading stuff.

I also have vista (legal) wink wink. U know... the thing with interer explorer 7 is that you need to clean your temporary files more often.

Start -My Computer - Right Click on partition that vista is intalled then properties - then go to disk cleanup. - also try defragmenting.... it might help. this haas also happened to me but that was because i was runing Wayyyy to many programs and also trying to view facebook all at the same time. it is not a problem with vista nor is it a problem with IE7. If you dont have a legal version of vista then whatever you used to activate it may have caused a problem. if you need help with this, e-mail me.
This guys with the "disk clean-up" and "defragmentation" crap is on some sort of substance.

I have a new computer that was doing this very same thing. I can assure it wasnt a defragmentation problem or a resource issue. Unless your computer shouldnt be running Vista. A few things may help, one: you may want to check microsoft's knowledge based article http://support.microsoft.com/kb/935544 for a registry editing fix that causes IE7 to crash, and the second thing you could do is uninstall all your IE7 add-ons like activex and reinstall them you may even want to try even reinstalling IE7.

I don't understand what's your problem ; its a very straightforward extension

You just have to click Tools %26gt;Add-ons %26gt; Extensions %26gt; click on IE tab extension %26gt; click options . Now in the URL, enter http://sitename.com and click 'add'. now click 'ok' to close to box. From now on, always sitename.com will open with IE's engine . If you don't want to enter any URL there, then you can also click the mozilla firefox icon in the bottom right of the window to switch to the IE rendering engine for the page you're viewing after installing this extension.

Go to the IE tab's homepage to find out more: http://ietab.mozdev.org/

Don't forget to click on the 'screenshots' link on the page. It shows various options through which you can configure the IE tab extension.

IE screwed up?

Hi, I closed my laptop, and re-opened it. This time when I opened it, ever key I typed in had a hotkey affect - it wouldn't allow me to type anything in. If I pressed a key on a field in IE, a windows would pop up asking me to do something as if that key were a hotkey - and they weren't, so I couldn't type anything in, anywhere. Also, now when I start IE, I can't see the "start" bar at the bottom, and the "_", Maximize, and "X" icons are smaller. It's pissing me off. I have Windows Vista.

Reboot. Rebooting solves all non-serious problems, and quite a few serious ones.
My advice is:

Use FireFox it is much safer and has plenty of other things to make Web browsing more enjoyable.

Besides, it's open source, it's free and it is not Micro$oft!

Seriously, I love it and use it without problems...

I recall having a similar problem with IE7 some weeks ago...

seems like the hotkey console has got locked out on your laptop. What i would suggest you do is that try uninstalling the IE application, then power down your laptop and hit the reset pin located under your laptop. That would give your laptop a hard reset to get everyting back to normal..

Uninstall IE7 ,then install IE6 ans if you still have

any more problems then you'll have to restore

the system.

I. E. 7 is beta, which means you are expected to find problems with it, on some computers. Do

a system restore and go back to I.E. 6!
you need to go immediately to Microsoft's web site at www.microsoft.com and download their defender program for windows. your system has a new virus that no virus protection seems to catch except for defender. what it does is alter your programs with out asking and change the windows registry so it stays that way. it attacks firefox...IE...mozilla...NOT AOL for some reason. use AOL to download defender and run it immediately. then download IE8 from Microsoft's web site, it has a malicious software removal tool built into it.
err, have you tried booting up in safe mode with nothing else running.

to do this restart the computer. press f8 when the computer is starting, (it may beep at you, dont worry just let go of the key for a second) it will give you lost of options, select safe mode command prompt. when it starts you will have a empty screen excep for a black window. close this and press CTRL + SHIFT + ESC. in the first menu goto File-%26gt; new task(run) and type 'explorer' then try installing it.

else give us a bit more infor on what happens when you run iexplorer. and how and when it started.
It seems you have a sort of parental control or some too strict firewall settings. Try disable your firewall and check the settings of IE: set the Security and Privacy level to Medium.

Good luck :)

IE loading DLL for which statically links with another DLL?

Hello, I have a DLL (CSP.dll) that statically links with another DLL (TokenAccess.dll). The CSP.dll is to be loaded by MS Internet Explorer. The CSP.dll is the Microsoft Cryptographic Service Provider for a specific hardware with flash memory. And, the TokenAccess.dll is an API for CSP.dll to access the hardware.

Both CSP.dll and TokenAccess.dll should be put into the flash memory of the hardware. However, I find that the TokenAccess.dll must be stored in system32 folder in order to be loaded by Internet Explorer. Is there any other ways to tell IE to load from the hardware ? I can provide the full path for IE, but IE would only load from its install path, or from system32. The CSP.dll can be stored in the hardware without problem. But, TokenAccess.dll has to be in system32. Thank you very much!

Can you create a copy of TokenAccess.dll and rename it, placing the renamed copy in hardware and leaving the original in system32? Sometimes a specific name is blocked rather than the contents of the file. IE might accept the renamed file and load it from hardware.

How can I remove IE from Vista Basic or at least "permanently shut it down"?

I have a laptop with Windows Vista Basic installed, and I am using Firefox as my web browser. However, Firefox says it's the default browser, and IE says that "it" "isn't" the default browser...yet when I try to open links someone will send me in IM on with Camfrog Video Chat or Yahoo! IM, they all want to open up ONLY in IE. I want to have them open (obviously) in Firefox. Is there a way to remove IE or at least "shut it down" permanently, so that the service is no longer running to be able to open things up automatically in IE.

Windows XP is still my OS of choice. I want to tell the developers of Vista to go !@#$ themselves...!!!! LOL

What exactly is wrong with IE7? IE7 in Windows Vista is the best browser you could use in that OS. FireFox is nice too - but it's mainly for people with old OS's.

Why is IE7 in Vista better than using FireFox? Here's why:

1. Loads up much more faster

2. Is more compatible with sites

3. Is much more safer than previous IE's, and some news sites even report it's more safer than Firefox, especially with Vista.

4. More built-in search options

5. better tabbing capabilities

6. Phishing filter

7. With Windows Live toolbar (or any other toolbar) you can block pop-ups, and add your own customizable buttons from Windows Live Gallery

That and tons of other reasons, if you actually really tried it.

But if you must have FireFox, isn't it possible to remove it, in add and remove programs? I think it's possible. Microsoft is not forcing their web browser on you. I managed to get it off before. It's not hard.

The developers in Vista did not push IE7 on you, again. It must be something on your computer or something. It's not hard to install FireFox into their, and make it your default.

@Doug: Putting in the $ in place of the S in Microsoft really made you lose your credibility. Vista is getting better, but throwing in that old M$ thing is stupid. All companies make profits, duh.

Firefox is for people who want secure browsing. IE7 and Vista is for people who don't know much about computers and who use them primarily for entertainment purposes. Vista is a fine operating system for novices who never need to customize or optimize their PC's and have no understanting of their pc's underlying architecture and capabilities. Firefox is much faster than IE7 according to any benchmark anaysis program program you want to try.

Contrary to Sarahs religious dedication to Miicrosoft as indicated above. They "are" pushing IE7 on you when they provide no means of uninstalling it, Sarah did'nt bother to actually look under add remove programs before assuming it would be there. In Vista it is Not there.

Your probllem is not correctable in windows normal configuration settings . Even though you have chosen Firefox as your default browser the links will still default to IE7 because Microsoft programnmed them intentionally to do exactly that. This is Microsofts latest methodology to thwart the consumers choice of browser. There are some work arounds at the Registry level you can use, they will require familiarity with editing your registry.

IE7 which is actually still based on the old IE4 platform is by far an inferior product when compared to Firefox and not nearly as secure. Recent diagnostice reveal that IE7 is marginally more secure that IE6, approximately a three percent improvement in security, This still leaves it about three hundred percent less secure than Firefox.

If there are no alterior motives why is it not listed in the add remove programs?

Isn't it interesting that all the new features touted in IE7 are nothing more than cheap attempts to copy well known and developed Firefox features. Vista GUI enhancements are suspiciously remeniscent of any Mac system you look at. As you may know Mac has been gaining signicantly in market share over the last few years.

BTW, all the propaganda about IE6 and Outlook Express not being compatible with Vista is hogwash. They would be completely compatible with Vista architecture except that Microsoft has intentionally coded Vista IE7 to block either of them from installing.

It's not a compatibility issue. it's a blocking issue. It is necessary for microsoft to kill Outlook Express in order to push sales of Microsoft Outlook which bundles with Office. It Is Necessary for microsoft To come out with a dressed up version of the same old IE6 in order to drive revenues from Vendors and application builders by making them buy new licensing rights to maintain compaitibity with the new Vista IE7. It is necessary to integrate an unremovable search bar for your convenience in IE7 so that they can generate new revenues from google and the other search engines. It's just economics.
If you dislike IE that much delete the folder in C:\program files\Internet Explorer

but you dont know how many programs require it to function properly.

You will like vista after awhile. Micro$oft didnt make it and put it on millions of pcs because it was a bad move. Trust me
I told the developers of XP to go !@#$ themselves, the best Windows OS is Win2K Pro.

I mean, can you hit Ctrl F to search for a file with XP? lol.

Anyway... I am not sure but there must be a way to uninstall it, go to add/remove programs. I use Opera %26amp; Firefox but sometimes there are sites that absolutely won't work unless you use Explorer so it might be wise to keep it, I don't have your problem so I think you could fix it without getting too drastic, although knowing how XP is, anything is possible. When you get a chance just get Win2k dude, you can still get the grassy desktop as a side thingy :)
