Why does IE keep closing down on just 1 site?

It does it just on C/NET Download.com. If I hurry and click on something to check out fast enough and get to that second page its usually alright. I don't have this problem with any other sites. I'm using IE 6..I tried the 7 and didn't like it..and NO I DON'T WANT TO INSTALL Firefox..tried it too and didnt like it..lol..just seems odd that I only have this problem when going to download.com. I get message "IE cannot open the internet site http://www.download.com"

Try clearing out your Temp files, and also do a virus scan and spywear scan.

After installing IE 7.0, MS outlook would not let me click on a web link in a message to launch it?

I get a message "This operation has been canceled due to restrictions in effect on this computer". Everything seemed to work fine before installing IE. I also can't check my yahoo e-mail when I try to launch IE from within Y! Messenger!! Any ideas?

uninstall ie7, thats what i did when i got it
check microsofts knowledge base for a fix. I can't think of the KB# right off hand but it will tell you how to fix the problem

You can also try this page microsoft.public.internetexplorer.genera...
Microsoft has a patch. it should be installed when you downloaded IE7... other than that uninstall 7 and go back to 6

How do I change IE home pg. from Yahoo to Google with Spyware doctor, ad-aware, IE's own securi

IE security settings, spyware doctor, ad-aware: preferences can be changed but products can not be completely shut off. one of these is preventing permanent installation of alternate home page. Work-around available? IE home page opens by clicking the Yahoo logo.

How do I change IE home pg. from Yahoo to Google with Spyware doctor, ad-aware, IE's own security installed?internet explorer

Open IE using the IE icon. Go to tools, the internet options. Where it says address, type in google's URL. Click OK. You're done. Now every time you open IE using the IE icon, it will open up with google as the home page.

My IE says Click to activete and Use this Control when I....?microsoft exchange

i guess this is normal for window xp service pack 2.

My IE says Click to activete and Use this Control when I....?windows vista ultimate internet explorer

All that means is that you have clicked somewhere outside of the flash movie and it's telling you that you can click on the flash movie to activate it's controls, like buttons and things that may be in the flash, once you click on it, it shouldn't say it again unless you click outside of it again.
You need to have Macromedia flash plugin. You said you have downloaded adobe plugin. Else check your security settings.

Firefox or IE, which is better?

Is Firefox better than IE?? I still have IE 5 I think, maybe 5.5 I think I tried 6 and things quit on me. I still use Win98 SE too. I know I had one week where I had to format like three times. Finally I have just kept it as simple as possible. I really would like to do away with anything from MS.

Firefox or IE, which is better?ie

Personal preference is Firefox, however, IE is needed for getting any updates and other help from Microsoft as it does not allow any other browser to access.

There are some applications that have been written that will ONLY work with IE also, like certain pogo games, etc...

Bottom line... use them both.

Firefox or IE, which is better?microsoft internet explorer

well first i would get at least windows xp.. but i would say firefox better. i use both on daily bases. use both because some websites do not like fire fox so then open ie and work right away but that only few websites that i have been to.
Then switch to Firefox, much better.
Firefox is much safer, because of the frequency and robustness of its updates, it helps block spam, junk, adware popups and all the rest of the dross much better.

For my money it's 100% improvement over IE, which has pretty much caved in to the people that want to send you junk you don't want.
firefox, IE is very buggy, although opera is rather cool aswell, and on os x i love camino and epiphany on linux
I use IE at work and Firefox at home and definitely notice a difference. Firefox has never quit on me and just has better features and easier to use.

However, if you want to adjust any settings like not allowing certain websites or controlled access to the web you have to go with IE. You can do this somehow with Firefox but its complicated
windows 98 is kinda old operating system is there anyway you could upgrade, like to windows XP, then you could get IE-7. but to answer your question most of my friends have switch to firefox, I keep for myself IE been using it longer than dirt was discovered, ask www.pcworld.com, they have many answers to many questions in there and they have a cool web-page. Ya have a good week.
Firefox is better. IE is the devil.

FIREFOX or IE? Can some help me decide?

I have used my IE for many years now, but many friends tell me to switch to Firefox. Can you please tell me the pros and cons? Would I have to uninstall IE? Would the Firefox work with my Live Messenger and stuff? Search engines?

Thanks a lot for the input.

FIREFOX or IE? Can some help me decide?

firefox all the way ... no u dont have to uninstall internet explorer to use firefox ... it will be installed in a different folder as a different explorer ... u can set firefox as ur default browser so that what ever link u open from ur messengers or other softwares it will be opend with firefox ... fire fox is much faster than i.e. and theres more security in it ... it blocks many adwares and pop ups ... if ur missing a plugin to view a web page the firefox will automatically search for the appropriate plug in and ask u to install it (eg - flash player) u dont have to find any plugins ur self ... and u got themes ... u can set book marks easily and u got tab options which u can open multiply links in the same browser but in different tabs u dont have to open browser windows one by one ... (its called tab browsing only available in the new i.e. 7 older i.e.'s dont have this option its like they copied it from firefox) fire fox will work with all the search engines u need and every web site ...

FIREFOX or IE? Can some help me decide?uninstall internet explorer internet explorer

FIREFOX i have both and i like firefox better
Neither. It's all about Opera.

http://www.opera.com/download/

Opera is the only one that can pass the web standards test.

http://www.webstandards.org/action/acid2...

Plus, Opera has built in IRC, torrenting client, and e-mail client.
I think you can use both. Each has it's advantages, what I would do is try both to see what you like. Firefox would work with search engines and stuff.
firefox %26gt; IE
Just download Firefox and give it a shot. No harm done, and it won't uninstall IE. It's a technically superior browser and the ability to add plugins allows you to do much more with it.
Firefox is faster and more safer than IE, but it's functions are alittle different from IE. But I think Firefox is better. You won't have to uninstall IE to have Firefox. I have both firefox and IE on the same computer.
You don't need to uninstall IE to use Fx and you'll be able to use the internet as you have before.
this one is easy

FIREFOX
u dont have to uninstall the IE..u can use both of them simultaneously.....also its a known thing that firefox is a lot better than IE interms of its page loading speed and many other features........also IE conserves 20% of the available bandwidth for microsoft website....so this makes it slower..........

so firefox is the best.........its also the most used browser.......
meh i have both but usually use IE more, i use firefox for playing games and watching videos, its better for that!

Oh and firefox i less likely to get bugs.
FIREFOX

-Much faster %26amp; safer

-easy to use
hi

my suggestion is to go for firefox.when u open multiple tabs IE 7 takes more of the physical memory, which inturn slows down ur computer.but firefox uses INTELLIGENT memory optimizer and uses only a small amount of memory.

BUT wait!!!!!

theres something known as IE 8 beta 1

which is better than both of them download it from

http://www.microsoft.com/windows/product...

cheers!

Firefox is getting more and more popular. It has cool features, and its most useful one is called Firefox Add-ons. Basically it allows you to download custom tools that other Firefox users have created, such as automatically refreshing a page or all the pages on your tabs, changing the looks of the user interface, etc.

Firefox is definitely safer to use than IE given that about 85% of the world still uses IE. However, Firefox has a few downsides as well, since convenience comes at a price.

For example, if you download the wrong kind of Add-on, you could have a major security breach, and you would never know about it. You'll have to develop some common sense on what you should and should not install. You can't really rely on the browser itself.

Firefox also saves all of your passwords. However, any user on your computer could easily leer through them with a few clicks of a button.

Many people think that Firefox is faster, but it's not necessarily true. Depending on what websites you go to, the memory cache could easily build up to a heaping amount and make your computer lag a lot. This is when you've been browsing a lot without ever closing the application. The only reason why Firefox is faster is because their default memory cache setting is higher than IE's.

Personally, I use Opera. It's efficient, easy to use, and very secure. There are more viruses for Firefox and IE, since not a lot of people use Opera. In any case, the link below will tell you how to use Live Messenger with Firefox.
You can have both. I have both but I only use IE because it's easy for me to use and I rarely have any problems with it. There are certain things about Firefox that just bug me.
firefox is better

you can keep IE and still use firefos

there is even safari for windows
